| Bomb Threat #....? |
| 10:22:04PM Wednesday, October 31, 2001 So take a guess on how many bomb threats I've gone through in the past three years at Columbia. What would you say... 1 or 2? Or maybe if you were a daily Locodanny.com visitor, you'd know that it's at least 3? Well, I don't even know the true number - I've lost count. But after today, lets bump that number up one more. That's right - another bomb scare. It's third period. We're in the middle of a presentation on John and Abigail Adams, and the fire alarm goes off. We evacuate the building, and as we get outside I see all of the little freshmen that have swimming that period running outside barefoot in their bathing suits, all wet and cold. I felt so bad.... So we went out onto Ritzer Field and were soon after pushed back to the sidewalk by Blimpies. We wait there for about 20 minutes before Mr. Healy decides to make an announcement to everyone that is in the back... over 200 people, if I had to guess... probably much over that number. So he made his announcement, no one could really hear him, he wasn't yelling or anything, just talking his normal voice. Apparently the announcement was something having to do with time stopping and us being in period 3 permanently until we got back into the school... meaning people can't leave the bomb scare for lunch. So now it's back to waiting. Cotter gathered us all across the street away from everyone else. We sat, we talked, we hung out, we shivered. For a good half hour more. Then Mr. Healy made another announcement - thanking everyone for being cooperative and telling us something like "There's a chance we go to Maplewood Middle" or something, I don't even know. Back across the street - segregated from everyone else. Whatever, I had a place to sit - it was good. Another 10-15 minutes of waiting and Mr. Healy once again calls us over, tells us to go back in, into period 3. Mind you, if this was a normal day we'd have been in the middle of Period 6 at this point. So we went back into Period 3 and just sat around talking for a few more minutes before an announcement came on from Dr. Robbins saying that we'd continue the day from where we left off - and the day would end at 3:15 instead of 2:46. And the crowd goes wild.... wildy insane. Oh well, so I say "Nope, leaving at 2:46." even though I knew I wouldn't. I go to Math, we get our group quiz back - we got a 60... booo. On to lunch... I knock over a garlic shaker thing and it shatters (it was glass) on the ground in the pizza place... boy this day keeps getting better and better. At least I had accumulated somewhat of a Halloween costume at this point - I was wearing the Burger King crown thing with "CCN" on a sheet of paper stapled over the Burger King logo - courtesy of Sharona Mallach... it was the very hat that was on the morning news show that morning - I know, amazing. So now it's 7th period - nothing bad happened. I move on to 8th, Spanish, and it was surprisingly fun today. We did lots of things for Extra Credit, and I even picked up some handmade Peruvian flute thing. Go to 9th, nothing to do because I don't have a segment for the upcoming news show, so Adelson, Sharona, Mariah, Rian, and a few others and I take a camera to just go shoot something or other. We end up with me wearing a mask, asking random people in the hallway to dance. Some girl actually tought me the Harlem Shake (or whatever it's called...). So now that we have some footage, we need to figure out something to do with it - only because it's funny. And we even got Doc to do a little jig... After school comes - 3:20 remember, not 2:46 - and I go to Spanish to do my t |
