Who would want me as their waiter?
5:17:13PM Thursday, June 28, 2001 The Junior girls do! That's right, I'm a waiter... how crazy is that? Camp's good... started last Sunday, I was here last Saturday, we had to be as Workgroup. The Maple isn't bad, messy already, no surprise, we'll survive. So anyway, back to waitering. I'm a waiter for 10 year old girls. I have three tables, each with 11 girls at it. That's 33 people. The suggested tip for a waiter for the full 8 weeks is 30 bucks. So, assuming they all stay full season (which a bunch won't), and they all tip the suggested amount, I make 33 x 30, which is $990. So that would be good, even though it won't happen. Ha, at lunch today, I got one of my girls to sponge off one of the tables... it was really funny, and now she wants to do it every meal, and so do some of the others, and that saves me time. First, she wanted to put the cups in the cup holder thing, which was all good, also saved me time. Then I was like "If you really want to be cool, you can sponge off your table." and she was like "Yeah, I want to do that!" and then a bunch of them started fighting over the sponge - oh man, they'll clean it all for me. The power of persuasion! I actually poked myself in the eye with a chair the other day too. I'll take a picture and post it up here for all to see - maybe a full time scar from it? Who knows. All I know is that I'm retarded for doing it. Picture coming soon. I have to go serve, I'll add to this later. See ya... ![]() And I'm back... nothing new on the serving front. Actually, that's not true. One of the foreign ladies who works in the kitchen told me that she liked me. I was talking to her about food and such and I she told me that she didn't like pasta. I was like "What do you like?!?" and she goes "You!" and pointed to me. I did one of those "Ahhh" things and got my pasta and left. Then her friend came up to me and I was like "Do you like me to? " and she was like "Yeah, sure, sure" and I went and served. While I was refilling on something or other in the kitchen, a different friend came up to me and started talking to me. I found out that her name was Monica and that she was from Poland. Apparently the one who said she likes me is also named Monica, and is also from Poland. And they didn't know each other before they met here..... how amazing is that?! (sarcasm). Off to go on the ropes course...

Knew you'd forget to unblock me
11:15:25AM Friday, June 22, 2001 Stupid Danny, forgot to unblock me (or didn't forget me and is just trying to make me feel bad. J/k, don't start yelling things at me). Whatever, I have nothing to say anyway except that I wish I had gone to the prom, but that would require not being hated by most (if not all) seniors. Exaggerating...I hope... Yeah, there was really no point in unblocking me, except that now I have something to do when I'm bored. Bye.

That was fun.....
10:09:33AM Friday, June 22, 2001 Well, prom was fun. I had a great time, I think Katie did too. After prom we all went back to Katie's house and partied until 3:30 AM... oh man - her sisters are crazy. The limo had fish in it! And Joe, the limo driver, got so confused when Katie called him up and asked if she could feed the fish... then afterwards, when we were back at Katie's house and talking to Joe, he started cracking up about it. It was kind of weird, actually. Then, I mentioned an ex-boyfriend of Katie's... that REALLY got Joe going. Which was also weird since Joe probably doesn't even know the kid... unless he went to Columbia without me knowing, which I don't think happened. Anyway, limo was cool. Prom was cool. Had a good time. Leaving for camp tomorrow. I already posted the address, but I'll do it again. Dan Lange - Maple 8 (I'll check on the 8, make sure) C/O Camp Kinder Ring 335 Sylvan Lake Road Hopewell Junction, New York 12533 Send me letters! Oh yeah, one last thing. Arvin got around to writing about me in his Open Diary... seems a bit jealous, I can take it. Here's a link...

One Final To Go...
4:43:12PM Tuesday, June 19, 2001 Well, I picked up my tux today. That was a whole ordeal - everyone came (including Shawn's mom and sister... buh?!?) Anyway, apparently Shawn looks better in a tux than I do (According to Becca and Helena at least... :-( ) I'll live... Katie still thinks I look better... because I do? (Note: She didn't actually SAY that I look better... but it's understood) Only one final left, my presentation for my Independent Study... should be...... interesting? My guidance counselor is coming, Helena and Katie might come... then Mr. Fanning'll be there. I think I'm ready... it's pretty long, well, more like 25 minutes. Not incredibly long, but long enough.....

Swordfish Was Really Good...
3:38:56PM Sunday, June 17, 2001 I just got back from seeing Swordfish a little while ago. It was really good, but somewhat confusing. Oh well, it was good, so I recommend it. Katie Furlong was sooo surprised last night when she got to the party... It was so good, and then I didn't want to jump out of the box. Right before she walked in, they put the box on me, despite my arguments, and someone said "Katie, open your first present!" and she said "I don't want it!". Ha, so I threw the box off and yelled "You don't want me?!?". The party went well, everyone had a good time, I got a little crazy at the end... shh, don't tell anyone. No drugs/alcohol - don't worry. Andrew, my brother, came, so Katie was excited. Laurel got us lost driving home again - lol, every time I'm in the car with her we get lost. Not as bad as the first time when we got lost in West Orange though. Just spent the past hour and a half writing my 45 minute presentation for my Independent Study in History Of Film... anyone that wants to come watch me present it - you're welcome. It'll make me more comfortable, rather than just presenting to Mr. Fanning and anyone he brings. I'm going to be presenting it on Wednesday, June 20th at 9AM in the library. It's going to be like 30 to 45 minutes long, involves some clips from movies, some Danny Lange talking endlessly about those clips. Should be fun... alright, it won't be fun, who am I kidding? But if anyone I knew was there, it would be easier for me...so come!

Turning over a new leaf...
12:37:27AM Saturday, June 16, 2001 Now that this issue is behind us, it is time for Locodanny.com to turn over a new leaf. Beginning on Wednesday, June 20th, I will once again be restoring Post Privelages to a select few people. Each person will have a different password this time, and no two people will know the others. On June 23rd, it's off to camp for an exciting 8 weeks as a waiter. Katie enjoys playing with leashes in Petco. Thought you might like to know. Later...

Time For A Formal Apology
5:28:39PM Thursday, June 14, 2001 It has come to my attention that people have seen what I wrote about Student Council, election winners, etc. on this site. I wanted to formally apologize to anyone I may have offended. It wasn't meant to harm anyone in anyway. It was more of a way for me to release stress. Some of it was also meant as a joke. It was not taken this way and I would like to apologize to anyone who took things that weren't meant to be serious, seriously. I would like to specifically apologize to Russell... nothing that was written on this site was meant to offend you or make your life difficult in any way. Once again, I'm Sorry. Also, for anyone involved in this who may be reading this, Russell and I have worked it out and look forward to working together on Student Council next year.

Old Man And The Sea - Get Out Of My Head!! FINALLY DONE!
9:37:32PM Monday, June 11, 2001 Danny Lange Period 8 Old Man and The Sea – Determination and Perseverance Determination and perseverance are two of the most important things in one’s life. Without these things, one would easily give up, not follow through, and never get anything that he wanted. Determination is the mental drive inside of each person that keeps him going and pushing. Perseverance, by definition, is a steady persistence. These two words are very closely related, and have almost the same meaning. Determination and perseverance are needed in one’s life in order to live any form of a good life. The novel, The Old Man and The Sea, demonstrates a form of determination and perseverance. Santiago, a fisherman, goes out fishing one day, prepared to catch the biggest fish of his life. He hooks a fish, unsure of it’s size, and follows it for hours on end. Eventually, he sees it, and kills it. Santiago’s battle with the fish seems to never end. He shows determination and perseverance in their purest forms. Most people would simply give up and let the fish go. Santiago, on the other hand, didn’t give up. He decided that the fish was something important to him, and that he didn’t want to give it up. Santiago was persistent, patient, and determined to catch the fish. Once Santiago kills the fish, he begins sailing home. On the way, sharks attack the fish and most of it gets eaten. In the end, although the sharks ate the dead fish, Santiago prevailed. Many would say that Santiago failed. Although he did not enjoy eating the fish, Santiago worked endlessly to catch it, and succeeded. One does not need to necessarily “eat the fish” to win the battle. Santiago shows us this through his determination and perseverance. In the end, although he is without a fish, he gains respect from the other fishermen, and a sense of pride from catching the fish. One following the path to stardom in the entertainment industry, in my belief, shows us the same qualities that Santiago showed us. In order to succeed, there are many barriers and obstacles that one must pass. I’m interested in directing movies as a future job. This can only happen through hard work, perseverance, and determination. The film industry requires that you start from the bottom, and work your way up. Most prospective directors start out as coffee boys, running to and fro, fetching various items for other people. I have been fortunate when it comes to the film industry. Recently, I found out about a company, located in Maplewood, that produces films. They were set to begin working on a new film in early April. I called the company and got involved. We began shooting the film in May. Fortunately, I did not start out as coffee boy. Rather, I began my film career as the boom (microphone) operator in this movie. Although I skipped from coffee boy to boom boy, there are still many obstacles to come. While reading the newspaper the other day, I read of a man in his early twenties who went to college to get involved in the film industry. He graduated college, began a job, and was soon let go. He was never able to find a decent job after that, and his film career, in his mind, went down the drain. This man was not as determined as need be. He gave up, which is the wrong attitude. To succeed in the film industry, you must accept bad jobs, start from the bottom, and slowly work your way up. Determination and perseverance are important, and many times, like in The Old Man and The Sea, it may appear that you lose, but you are really winning. Even getting a job as a coffee boy on a movie set is an accomplishment. Every little thing helps, and many people don’t see this. Instead, they are offered the job of coffee boy, turn it down, and never get any other offers. People don’t recognize the need to accept starting low. They need to realize that getting to the top requires work and determination. I’d like to believe that I’m like Santiago, although that probably isn’t true. While thinking about it, I realized that I give up too easily, which isn’t a good trait to have for the industry that I’d like to be involved in. I, like most people, would probably turn down the crummy jobs. My life, as well as that of many other people, would be better if everyone learned that patience, determination, and perseverance were important and necessary. Santiago possesses qualities that everyone should have. If people had the qualities that Santiago possessed, they would prosper more, and maybe even lead a better life. Determination and perseverance are very important in life. They help us to lead a good life, and to succeed. Santiago would not have been able to catch the fish without determination, perseverance, and patience. We should all learn from The Old Man and The Sea, and Santiago’s teachings.

Anyways, Alex and are working hard on next year's campaign and, as a preview, I'll just give you a few words and slogan ideas in regards to how we plan to make the public accept and maybe even like you. 1.) Bunny Rabbits. 2.) Beer Drinking Construction Workers 3.) Homeless People 4.) Pyscho Bitch Lunchladies with No Patience 5.) Bring Back Ghostbusters! 6.) Your Nigerian Heritage 7.) Admitting to false accusations of the following: -Beastiality -Incest -Bestial Incest -Tax evasion 8.) Gay? Straight? Let's put it in a "Locked Box" 9.) Hey! Just vote for me you fucking slacker bitch piece of shit-crap! 10.) Pro-Mothers and Choice 11.) Pro-Firing DeVita because of hints at senility and pedophilia 12.) Alex Lewis Debates-Superhero sent to save mankind? or Supervillain sent to re-elect Russell? So that's what's in store for next year Danny-boy. And all you Dan-Fan's stay tuned for next week, when Dan learns the disappointment that yes, his cat is a fat piece of crap. Thank you. |
